Q&A withRhonda Ryan
Q. If you could learn to do anything, What would it be?
A.I would like to learn to crochet and paint. This way I can make my own decorations for my home. I would like to crochet because I have always wanted to make a blanket for my son.
Q. What makes you laugh the most?
A.My son, he is full of life! I’m really goofy and it doesn’t take much to make me laugh.
Q. Who would you want to be stranded on a deserted island with?
A.I would say Denzel Washington. I love him! He is one of my favorite actors and I love all of his movies.
Q. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
A.Ilike small areas, so somewhere out in the country or up North. I would like to live in Maine, or maybe Hawaii.
Q. What does it mean to you to be “making a difference”?
A.It means I have accomplished something. I am doing what I have always wanted to do. Even if it takes awhile or doesn’t happen immediately, I like knowing that I can make some type of positive change. It only takes one person to make a change. It is great to know that I can pass on something good to someone that they can continue to pass on to others.
“Making a Positive Change”
Rhonda Ryan has been a Counselor at MRC’s Youth Development for a year and a half. She started out as an Associate Counselor and is now the Family Counselor. She enjoys working at MRC because she loves helping the kids. She understands that a lot of our patients do not have anyone to care about them, and she wants them to know she is here for them. “Even if I can’t reach them all, maybe I can reach just one.”
In her spare time, she likes to experiment with cooking, shop at thrift stores, and go out to eat (especially to Olive Garden). Rhonda was born and raised in Memphis and enjoys spending time with her family by cooking out and going to the park or the zoo. She has a three-year old son named Travis, and she loves spending time with him.
Rhonda shared an encouraging word for her fellow staff members, “Never give up, no matter the struggle or how complicated a case may be. We are making a difference, even if we can’t see it.”
