Q&A withSamantha Mitchell
Q. If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
A.I would spend the day with a pastry chef! I love to bake and decorate cakes.
Q. What would you sing at karaoke night?
A. Coal Miner’s Daughter by Loretta Lynn, I’m a Kentucky girl.
Q. What is your favorite family tradition?
A. My dad’s birthday. It’s Christmas Eve, and everyone in my family gets together to watch the 1930’s classic, “A Christmas Carol”. We all live in different states now, but we still come together on this day.
Q. What items would you want to have with you on a deserted island?
A. Chapstick and a book! I would be set with those two things.
Q. What does it mean to you to be “making a difference”?
A. For me, making a difference is seeing someone start to believe in themselves and learn not to be happy with being mediocre. We have a lot of patients who aren’t used to people believing in them. When they start to believe in themselves, that’s a big difference, and I believe it’s a difference that matters.
“Nurturing Hope”
Samantha Mitchell has been a counselor with MRC for 10 years. She started out as a Counselor-Trainee, and is now the Treatment Coordinator for our Youth Program. She enjoys working here because she loves the mission of MRC and what we stand for. “I love that we nurture hope, encourage healthy risks, and provide a safe environment where progress is measured by how our patients overcome struggles, not whether or not they are perfect.”
Samantha was born and raised in Kentucky, and moved to Arkansas just over 10 years ago. Samantha and her husband have been a couple for 15 years. She loves to bake, paint, crochet, and do all kinds of little projects. She also enjoys reading and gardening.
Samantha would like to say thank you to her fellow employees for nominating her this month, “I feel so thankful to have been chosen for this honor. We have so many wonderful employees here at MRC, and it is a joy to work with people whose motives are sincere and always have other people’s best interests in mind
